Questions and Answers
Who is InterNIC? InterNIC is a government organization responsible for holding the registration and routing of Internet domain names. Without these people it would be virtually impossible to maintain a sense of sanity on the Internet. OT registers all new domain names (.com, .net, .org, .info, .cc, .biz, .name)
When my domain name is registered, who owns the domain name? You do! When we register your domain name, we will put you as the administrative contact and owner with your current email address. Whenever you want to make modifications with your domain name, the administrative contact is always contacted first. Since OT registers your domain name, we will remain as the technical contact.
What is the fee regarding domain name registration? If OT registers your domain name it is free for your first year and $25.00/year therafter.
How can I register foreign domain names (.uk, .se, .ca, etc)?OT requires foreign domain registration to be completed by the owner of the domain. Please contact our technical support staff for information that you will need when registering.
How long does it take for the world to access my domain name? We, of course, will setup your domain name on our servers within 24 hours. While setting up your site, we will simultaneously register your domain name. Your registration takes less than 24 hours to complete. However after this time period, it truly depends on ALL networks and ISPs of the world to update their servers and lookup your new domain name. Some popular dial-up ISPs (i.e. GWI, ComTel, BlazeNet, Road Runner, Earthlink, Slip.Net, Sprynet, Grid.Net) take less than 6 hours to update their servers, while others will take more than 3 days. So if you are still using a dial-up connection to the Internet, make sure you have a reliable ISP that promply updates its DNS servers, so you can access your_domain_name.com right away.
What can I expect if I am transferring a domain name to OT?If you have already registered your domain name, OT will handle your nameserver transfer. OT will request your nameserver modifications with whatever registrar you have your domain registered with. Your domain will then point to our servers.Your domain will only be transfered to our domain registrar upon request. This way we will handle the billing for your hosting and your domain name. You will still be billed by the registrar you use unless you transfer the domain to our registrar. IE: If your domain is registered with Network Solutions you will still need to pay them annualy for your domain registration.
